32.4 Tap-offs
The network splitter makes it possible to create tap-offs
(see figure 32.3). Please that tap-offs are never
redundant, because it is not possible to create a tap-off
ring. If the cable between the network splitter and the
call station B breaks, call station B is not functioning
anymore, hence the tap-off is not redundant.
32.5 Spare amplifiers
Besides using redundant cabling it is also possible to add
spare amplifiers to the system (see chapter 8).
Spare amplifiers give back-up capacity if an amplifier
has a defect.

Refer to 10.3.5.3 for information about basic amplifiers.
Caution
Do not mix spare power amplifiers with spare
basic amplifiers. The amplifiers are not
compatible and the configuration software does
not support the assignment of a basic spare
amplifier channel to a main power amplifier or a
spare power amplifier to a main basic channel.
