Chapter 4 First Light 55
4.6 WinX First Light Instructions
This section provides step-by-step instructions for acquiring an imaging measurement in
WinX for the first time. The intent of this procedure is to help you gain basic familiarity
with the operation of your system and to show that it is functioning properly. Once basic
familiarity has been established, then operation with other operating configurations, ones
with more complex timing modes, can be performed.
4.6.1 Assumptions
The following procedure assumes:
The system has been set up in accordance with the instructions in the previous
chapters.
Previous sections of this chapter have been read.
Familiarity with the WinX application software.
The system is being operated in imaging mode.
The target is a sharp image, text, or a drawing that can be used to verify that the
camera is “seeing” and can be used to maximize focus.
4.6.2 Getting Started
Prior to performing any procedure within this chapter:
Verify that a test target has been positioned approximately 9 inches in front of the
camera;
Power ON the camera (the power switch is on the back of the power supply);
Turn on the host computer;
Launch WinX.
4.6.3 Configuring the Software
Perform the following procedure to configure WinX:
1. From the Setup pull-down menu, select Pulsers.
The
Pulsers dialog is displayed, similar to that shown in Figure 4-6.
