Chapter 16: Component Descriptions
PI-MAX4 is an advanced intensified CCD (ICCD) camera system used for low light and
time resolved applications. It consists of an imaging (square) or spectroscopy (rectangular)
format CCD coupled to Gen II (PI-MAX4 RB, SB, UV) or Filmless Gen III (PI-MAX4 HQ)
intensifiers. The operation of the camera system is under complete control of WinView/32
(Imaging,) WinSpec/32 (Imaging and Spectroscopy,) or LightField software packages. In
pulsed/gated experiments where the camera needs to be synchronized to a light source (e.g.,
a laser,) the internal timing generator is used.
16.1 Mount Adapters
The nose at the front end of a PI-MAX4 camera is designed to accept three types of mount
adapters:
C-mount;
F-mount;
Spectroscopy-mount.
The mount adapter specified when the system was ordered was installed on the camera at the
factory, additional mount adapters may be ordered.
