6.4.2 Battery replacement procedure
(1) Q172EX module battery replacement procedure
When the Q172EX module battery has been exhausted, replace the battery with
a new one in accordance with the procedure shown below. Before removing the
battery, turn ON the power supply for 10 minutes or longer.
Even when the battery is removed, the memories are backed up by the capacitor
for a while. However, if the replacement time exceeds the guaranteed value
specified in the table below, the contents stored in the memories may be erased.
To prevent this trouble, replace the battery speedily.

Turn on the power supply of the power
supply module for 10 minutes or longer.
Turn off the power supply of the power
supply module.
Remove the encoder cable from Q172EX.
Remove the Q172EX from the base unit.
Remove the old battery from its holder of
the Q172EX.
Install a new battery into the holder in the
correct direction.
Connect the lead connector to the
connector.
Install the Q172EX into the base unit.
Connect the encoder cable to the Q172EX.
Turn on the power supply of the power
supply module.
