Pass the thread through the guide, and then
pull the thread out toward the front.

→ The cutter cuts the thread.

Insert the tab in the lower-left corner of the
bobbin cover (1), and then lightly press
down on the right side to close the cover
(2).

Press to unlock all keys and
buttons.
Pulling Up the Bobbin Thread
There may be some sewing applications where
you want to pull up the bobbin thread; for
example, when making gathers, darts, or doing
free motion quilting or embroidery.

Guide the bobbin thread through the
groove, following the arrow in the
illustration.
* Do not cut the thread with the cutter.
* Do not replace the bobbin cover.

While holding the upper thread, press the
“Needle Position” button to lower the
needle.

Press the “Needle Position” button to raise
the needle.

Press to lock all keys and buttons.

Gently pull the upper thread. A loop of the
bobbin thread will come out of the hole in
the needle plate.
Note
• If the thread is not correctly inserted through
the tension spring of the bobbin case, it may
cause incorrect thread tension. (see page
79)

CAUTION
• Be sure to hold down the bobbin with your
finger and unwind the bobbin thread
correctly. Otherwise, the thread may break or
the thread tension will be incorrect.
Memo
• You can pull up the bobbin thread after
threading the upper thread (“UPPER
THREADING” on page 57).
