Corded Buttonhole

® R: Automatic buttonhole foot
Use this procedure when you want to achieve a tailored,
more attractive raised buttonhole..
Use filler cord (at least 10 inches of heavy thread).
Try a practice buttonhole first.
_] Set the automatic buttonhole foot R on the foot holder.
[] With the buttonhole foot raised, hook the filler cord
on the spur at the back of the buttonhole foot°
[] Bring the ends toward you under the buttonhole foot
until they clear the front end,
[] Hook the filler cord into the forks on the front of foot
R to hold them tight,
[] Lower the needle into the garment where the button
hole will start and lower the foot.
[] Sew the buttonhole according to the buttonhole
sewing instructions on Page 66
Remove the fabric from the machine and cut the
sewing threads.
[] Pull the left end of the filler cord to tighten it°
[] Thread the end of the filler cord through a darning
needle, draw to the bottom side of the fabric and cut.
