Decorative flatlock (Topstitching)
With the Kenmore Serger, a whole new world of decorative
sewing opens up.
Try using the following method to create a braid effect
across the front of a blouse or around the bottom of a skirt.

Use ornamental threads, yarns or ribbons in the upper
looper. Regular overlock thread, a fine sewing thread or
transparent thread can be used in the needle and lower
looper.
Machine Setting
Number of threads: 3
Number of needles: 1
(Remove the needle on the right.)
Differential feed ratio: 1.0
Stitch length: 3
Left needle thread tension (Gold): 0 to 2
Upper looper thread tension (Red): 2 to 3
Lower looper thread tension (Green): 5 to 7
Lower looper pre-tension setting slider: R.H.
Needle plate setting knob: S

Method
Disengage upper knife.
Fold your fabric with wrong side together.
Right side
Serge the folded edge while guiding it along the left side
edge of lower knife (without trimming).
Return upper knife to engage position.
Engage upper knife.
Gently open the fabric and press.
