AdjusttheTop Thread Tension
• Choose the Correct Tension
For Straight Stitch:
The ideal straight stitch will have threads lockedbe_.veen
the two layers of fabric, asshown right (magnified to
show detail).
If you look at the top and bottom of the seam, notice
that there are no gaps. Each stitch is smooth and even.
When adjusting top thread tension, the higher the
number, the tighter the top thread tension.
Results depend on;
* stiffnessandthicknessofthefabric
* number of fabric layers
* type of stitch

• Tension is too tight
The bobbin thread shows through on the right side of
the fabric and it will feel bumpy.
Turn the dial upward to loosen the top thread tension.
C) Needlethread

• Tension is too loose
The needle thread shows through on the wrong side of
the fabric and it will feel bumpy.
Turn the dial downward to tighten the top thread
tension.
