Mark the buttonhole position carefully on the fabric.
Placing the fabric behind the machine, insert the
fabric between the guide plate and the buttonhole
foot as illustrated. Align marked buttonhole (_ with
center marking on buttonhole foot (_). Line up the
fabric edge with the measure marking on the guide
plate (_) just in front of the buttonhole foot as shown.
Pierce the fabric with the needle at the beginning of
the buttonhole.
NOTE: If you want buttonholes to be sewn at 1/2"
(1.2 cm) from the fabric edge, line up the
fabric with the 1/2 markings each time you
start to sew a buttonhole. Interfacing is
recommended when making buttonholes.
If fabric is not fed smoothly from the start,
increase stitch length.
Lower the buttonhole foot. Start sewing slowly.
Allow the machine to do the work by itself, i.e., do
not try to guide fabric. Stop sewing when the needle
returns to the position where it began. To release
the buttonhole base plate, pull the lever toward you
and lift the base plate off the machine.
To Adjust Stitch Density
(_ Fine stitches for lightweight fabrics
_) Stitch length between 3 and 4
(_) Coarse stitches for heavyweight fabrics
