The Stitch and its Uses
This stitch can be used lor sewing a
seam with an overcast fin+sh.
The seam is termed and finished in one
operation. It can be used when you are
making swtmwear, ski pants end other
garments that require stretch.

Place the raw edge of the tabric to the
LEFT of the needle as shown.
Stitch so the needle pierces the fabric
just short of the outs+de edge.
Or, place your fabric to allow a 5!8-
seam, then trim seam allowance
after.
Raw or worn edges ot older garments
can be overcast to prevent further
raveling.
NOTE: Use a blue stretch fabric
needle, which effectively
prevents skipped stitches.
