Trouble Shooting
Problem Possible Cause Solution
No transmissions;
remote control
doesn’t work.
Receiver must learn new
code.
• Reset the receiver’s code, refer to M
AINTENANCE
AND SERVICE - CHANGING REMOTE HANDSET CODE.
One or more of the
batteries are dead.
• Replace the batteries, refer to M
AINTENANCE AND
SERVICE - REPLACING THE BATTERIES.
The receiver is surrounded
by metal, reducing the
transmission range.
• Change the position of the antenna.
W
ARNING: Make sure that the antenna is not
too close to the electrode cable and ignition coil
(beneath the cover). It will damage the receiver
(see Figure 80).
Receiver is malfunctioning. • Replace receiver and reprogram code, refer to
M
AINTENANCE AND SERVICE - CHANGING REMOTE
HANDSET CODE.
Transmitter is
malfunctioning.
• Replace transmitter and reprogram code, refer
to M
AINTENANCE AND SERVICE - CHANGING REMOTE
HANDSET CODE.
Wiring at the valve has
been damaged.
• Replace the valve.
Pins on 8 wire connector
have been bent.
• Straighten the pins on the 8 wire connector.
Gas control valve is turned
OFF.
• Turn the gas valve ON.
Pilot has gone out. • Relight the pilot
No ignition; no tone. Receiver • Replace the receiver and reset the receiver’s
code, refer to M
AINTENANCE AND SERVICE -
CHANGING REMOTE HANDSET CODE.
No Ignition; One 5
second continuous
tone (7 short beeps
might be heard prior
to the 5 second
tone).
Loose wire. • Check and secure all wires
Receiver • Replace the receiver and reset the receiver’s
code, refer to M

Pins on 8 wire connector
have been bent.
• Straighten the pins on the 8 wire connector.
