Secondary Installation
OPTIONAL BASE SHELF & RISER:
The Sonnet Base Shelf (1” (41 mm) high) and Base Shelf Riser (2” (54 mm) high) are black powder
coated components that can be combined to create a riser with an overall height of 2
3
/16” (55 mm).
This shelf can be installed with or without the riser and can be used when the hearth in front of the unit
is lower than the replace opening. Additional Base Shelf Risers can be fastened together to increase
the height in increments of 2” (54 mm). This Base Shelf may be used in conjunction with the Sonnet
Colonial & Classic surrounds with or without the Adjustable Surround, and it may also be used with the
Sonnet Trimmable Surround. The Base Shelf and Riser are sold separately.
Installation:
1. If unit is running, turn it off and
allow it to cool completely.
2. When using more than one riser
each level must be attached
using nine (9) #8 T-20 screws
provided (see Figure 58).
3. If installing with riser(s) the
Base Shelf is to be fastened
to the riser(s) with one T-20
screw at each end of the back
(see Figure 59).

4. The leveling legs on the Sonnet may need to be adjusted to match
the height of the riser and shelf. Each leveling leg has two (2)
screws that can be loosened using a ” hex driver (see Figure
31). Adjust the leg to the required height and then retighten the
screws.
5. Center the Base Shelf assembly in front of the unit ush with the
bottom of the unit.
6. Install surround if required.
INSTALLATION OF ADJUSTABLE SURROUND AND TRIM:
Warning: The surround becomes hot when the unit is operating; ensure that the unit is turned off, and
that it has cooled to room temperature.
