Insert the thread cassette (with the extra spool
pin attached) into the thread cassette
compartment.
For more details, refer to step
e in "Using
the extra spool pin" (page 29).
X Pass both threads through the needle bar
thread hooks.
If the thread cassette is inserted with the twin
needle attached, the sewing machine may be
damaged.

Install the twin needle.
For details, refer to "Replacing the needle"
(page 37).

Manually thread the left needle with the
thread for the left side of the stitch.
For details, refer to "Thread the needle
manually (without using the needle threader)"
(page 30).

Remove the thread for the right side of the
stitch from only the lower hook of the needle
bar thread hooks, and then use it to thread the
right needle.

Attach zigzag foot "J".
For details on changing the presser foot, refer
to "Replacing the Presser Foot" (page 40).

Turn on the sewing machine and select a
stitch.
For stitch selection see "Selecting stitching"
(page 47).
See "Stitch Settings" (page 66) for stitches that
use a twin needle.

Press (Settings key) in the operation
panel.
X The settings screen appears.

Press .
X displays in reverse highlight.
If pressed again, it returns to .
X The twin needle can now be used.
When using the twin needle, be sure to
attach zigzag foot "J", otherwise the
needle may break or the machine may be
damaged.
