■ If the Needle Catches Too Much of
the Hem Fold
The needle is too far to the left.
Press to decrease the stitch width so that the
needle slightly catches the fold of the hem.

Press to increase the stitch width so that the
needle slightly catches the fold of the hem.

Sew with the fold of the hem against the
presser foot guide.

Remove the basting stitching and reverse
the fabric.

Appliqué

Use a temporary spray adhesive, fabric glue
or a basting stitch to attach the appliqué to
the fabric.
* This will keep the fabric from moving during
sewing.

the appliqué shape, size, and quality of material (see

Attach presser foot “J”. Check that the
needle drops slightly off the edge of the
appliqué, then start sewing.
