BATTERY BACKUP
install the Battery
1. Unplugthe garagedoor opener.
2. Openthe lightlenson the right side panel of the garagedoor
opener. Usea Phillips head screwdriver to remove the battery
coveron the garagedoor opener.
3. Partially insertthe battery into the battery compartmentwith
the terminals facing out.
4. Connectred (+) and black (-) wires from the garagedoor
opener to the corresponding terminals on the battery.
5. Verify the batterywires are seated inthe channeland replace
the battery cover.
& Plug inthe garage door opener.
7. Wait for the green BatteryStatus LEDto start flashing before
proceedingto test the battery.
To reducethe risk of FIREor INJURYto persons:
• DisconnectALL electric and battery power BEFORE
performing ANYservice or maintenance.
• UseONLYCraftsman part#41B822 for replacement battery.
• DONOTdispose of battery in fire. Batterymay explode.
Checkwith local codes for disposal instructions.
ALWAYSwear protective gloves and eyeprotection when
changing the battery or working around the battery
compartment.

Testthe Battery
1. Unplugthe garagedoor opener. Thebattery status LEDwill
either glow solid orange indicating opener is operating on
battery power or will flash indicating low battery power. NOTE:
Make surethe garagedoor opener is unplugged.
2. Openand close the door using the remote control or door
control. Thegaragedoor opener may run slower if the battery
is not fully charged. The battery will take 24 hours to fully
charge.
3. Plug in the garage door opener.Verify the battery status LEDis
flashing green,indicating the batteryis charging.

GREENLED:
All systems are normal.
• A solid green LEDlight indicatesthe battery is fully charged.
• A flashing green LEDindicatesthe battery is being charged.
ORANGELED:
Thegarage door opener haslost power and is in battery backup
mode.
• A solid orange LEDwith beep,sounding approximately every
2 seconds, indicatesthe garage door opener is operating on
battery power.
• A flashing orange LEDwith beep,sounding every 30 seconds,
indicatesthe battery is low.
REDLED:
Thegarage door opener's 12V battery needsto be replaced.
• A solid red LEDwith beep,sounding every 30 seconds,
indicatesthe 12V battery will no longer hold a charge and
needsto be replaced. Pleasecallfor replacementbattery to
allow your system to operate during a power outage.

Status LED
CHARGETHEBATTERY
The batterywill take 24 hours to fully charge. A fully charged
battery supplies 12 Vdc to the garage door opener for one to two
days of normal operation during an electrical power outage. Once
the battery voltage drops too low, the battery will no longer
operate.After the electrical power has been restored, the battery
will rechargewithin 24 hours. The battery will last 3 to 5 years
with normal usage.To obtain maximum battery life and prevent
damage,disconnect the batterywhen the garagedoor opener is
unplugged for an extended period of time.
NOTE:Door operation may be fimited until the battery is fully
charged. Thegarage door opener lights will not turn on during
battery backup mode.
