THE PROTECTOR SYSTEM
®
(SAFETY REVERSING SENSORS)
When properlyconnected and aligned,the safetyreversing sensorswill detectan obstruction in the
path ofthe infrared beam. If an obstruction breaksthe infrared beam while the door isclosing,the door
will stop and reverse to full open position,and the opener lightswill flash 10 times.If the door isfully
open,and the safetyreversing sensorsare notinstalled,or are misaligned, the door will not close from
a remote control.However,you can close the door ifyou hold the button on the door control orkeyless
entryuntil the door is fullyclosed.The safetyreversing sensorsdo not effectthe opening cycle.
ENERGY CONSERVATION
For energy efficiencythe garage door opener will enter sleep mode when the door isfullyclosed.The
sleep mode shutsthe garage door opener down until activated.The sleep mode issequenced with the
garage door opener lightbulb;asthe lightbulb turnsoffthe sensor LEDs will turn off and whenever the
garage door opener lightsturn on the sensor LEDswill light. The garage door opener will notgo into
the sleep mode until the garage door opener hascompleted 5 cycles upon power up.
LIGHTS
The garage door opener lightbulbswill turn on when the opener isinitiallyplugged in;power is
restored after interruption,or when the garage door opener isactivated. The lightswill turn off
automaticallyafter 4-1/2 minutes.An incandescentA19 lightbulb (100 wattmaximum) or for maximum
energyefficiencya 26W (100W equivalent) compact fluorescentlight(CFL) bulb maybe used.
Light Feature
The garage door opener isequipped with an added feature;the lights will turn on when someone
entersthrough the open garage door and the safetyreversing sensor infrared beam is broken.For
added control over the lightbulbs on your garage door opener,see page 37.
USING YOUR GARAGE DOOR OPENER
The garage door opener can be activated through a wall-mounted door control,remote control,
wirelesskeylessentryor MyQ™ accessory.
When the door is closed and the garage door opener isactivated the door will open.If the door senses
an obstruction or isinterrupted while opening the door will stop.When the door isin anyposition other
than closed and the garage door opener isactivated the door will close. If the garage door opener
sensesan obstruction while closing, the door will reverse.Ifthe obstruction interruptsthe sensor beam
the garage door opener lights will blink10 times.However,you can close the door ifyou hold the button
on the door control or keylessentry until the door isfullyclosed.The safetyreversing sensorsdo not
affectthe opening cycle.
The safetyreversing sensor mustbe connected and aligned correctlybefore the garage door opener
will move in the down direction.
BATTERY BACKUP
The batterybackup system allowsaccess in and outofyour garage,even when the power isout.When
the garage door opener is operating on batterypower,the garage door opener will run slower,the light
will notfunction,the BatteryStatusLED will glow solid orange,and a beep will sound approximately
every2 seconds.
