Definition of Common Terms
Term Definition
Access Point (AP) A base station in a wireless LAN. Typically, an AP is a stand-alone
device that plugs into an Ethernet hub or server.
ACS Automatic Cassette Switching. A feature where a copier
recognizes a request to print a specific page to a specific type of
paper (in a different cassette) and prints the output accordingly.
ADD Auto-Duplexing Device. A copier component that allows double-
sided printing and copying (standard equipment).
ADF Auto-Document Feeder. An accessory that allows a document to
be fed or scanned without user intervention.
Ad Hoc A type of wireless network in which two or more clients
communicate in peer-to-peer mode.
