Setting Your Energy Saving Programs
Tips Before Starting
5.4.1
• It is important for you to setthe currenttime of day (noteAM/PM indicator in display),and thecurrent day of
week correctly to avoidproblems with program execution. This mustbe done prior to entering any program
settings.
• Both theheating and coolingprograms usethe same setpoint times, but allowdifferent setpoint
temperatures.
• This thermostat is pre-programmed with setpoint times and temperaturesrecommended bythe U.S.
Environmental ProtectionAgency& the U.S.Department ofEnergy in their Energy Starprogram. These settings
provide efficient energy savingsduring normal heating andcooling modesof operation. Review these time and
temperature settings priorto establishingyour personalprogram settingsto maximize your savings,& minimize
programming requirements.
• Make sureyou place the system switchin the HEAT or COOL modes ofoperation as appropriate. The
thermostat will notallow you to enter aprogram in the OFF position. The EMER(Emergency Heat) modewill be
considered the same asthe HEAT modeof operation for programming purposes. We donot recommend
programming in the EMERmode.
• When youplace the system switchin theCOOL, OFF,HEAT orEMER,modes of operation, the appropriate
indicator will alsoappear in the LCD displaywhen thesystem is running.
