Maximumagingtimeisthemaximumtime(inseconds)adevicecanwaitwithoutreceivinga

configurationmessage(bridge“hello”)beforeattemptingtoreconfigure.Alldeviceports(except

fordesignatedports)shouldreceiveconfigurationmessagesatregularintervals.Anyportthat

agesoutSTPinformationprovidedinthelastconfigurationmessage

becomesthedesignatedport

fortheattached LAN.Ifitisarootport,anewrootportisselectedfromamongthedeviceports

attachedtothenetwork.
