this by setting the manual switch within the controller
to the “on” position. Run the pump for a full ve
minutes and carefully check to ensure there is proper
uid ow and that all the air has been purged from
the solar collector glycol loop. An inexpensive ow
meter such as manufactured by Blue White Industries
or Letro is recommended as an optional system
component. A ow meter allows you to monitor and
adjust the ow rate through the piping and also to
visually inspect the HTF uid quality.
Set the controller to the "off" position and proceed to
the next step.
The sensor "bundle" must be placed under the
rubber pipe insulation covering the collector
header. Thoroughly wrap and weatherize the
insulation with electrician’s tape or insulation
tape as provided by the manufacturer (Rubatex
Insul-Tape or equal). See Figure 13 for collector
sensor installation detail.
4.7 Low Voltage Wiring
The low voltage wiring used to connect the sen-
sors to the controller should be a minimum18
AWG. The wiring should be bare or tinned cop-
per, two conductor, PVC insulated, with a PVC
UV rated gray jacket suitable for exterior use.
Use Eastman Wire & Cable No. 5704, Belden
Wire and Cable No. 8461 or equal.
