VENT RESTRICTOR RING INSTALLATION
Recommended Restrictor Ring Placement For Optimum Stove Performance
Guideline for Installing Flue Restrictor
Ring in Co-Axial Direct-Vent Pipe
If the total vertical venting is 16 feet or
higher, installation of 1 restrictor ring is rec-
ommended to improve the performance and
flame asthetics of the appliance. Install the
restrictor ring between the appliance outlet /
inlet collar and the first section of pipe. De-
pending upon the vent configuration and
other variables, it may be necessary to adjust
the quantity and position of the restrictor
ring(s) to ensure proper operation of the ap-
pliance. Be advised, product performance
can be affected due to numerous factors
which affect exhaust flow and air delivery,
such as – gas BTU value, vent configura-
tion, ambient temperature, altitude, etc.
Symptoms for Lack of Combustion Air
Remove restrictor ring(s) to increase com-
bustion air delivery if the following symptoms
are present (first confirm input is correct, pri-
mary air shutter is properly adjusted, venting
system connections are secure and not
blocked):
Flame appears yellow with black tips.
Floating Flames (lazy, ill-defined, quiet,
may roll).
Sooting.
Pilot becomes yellow and appliance
shuts down.
Symptoms - Excessive Combustion Air
Install one or more restrictor rings to reduce
combustion air delivery if the following symp-
toms are present:
Low Flame.
Pilot pulls and appliance shuts down.
Pilot flame ghosts
16 Feet or Higher,
Install Restrictor
Ring
If total vertical venting is
16 feet or higher, install 1
restrictor ring (included)
between the appliance
outlet / inlet collar and
first section of pipe.
