Aswithanymaintenanceconcerningthisunit,besuretheunitis“OFF,”hascompleted
theShut‐Downcycle,andiscompletelycoolBEFOREbeginning.
BeawarethatmetalpartsinthefireboxcanremainHOTlongafterthefirehasgoneout
andEVENaftertheShut‐Downcycleiscomplete.Alwaysuseextremecautionwhen
handlingpotentiallyhotstoveparts,evenifyouthinktheyshouldbecold.
MonthlymaintenanceshouldincludethestepslistedinthissectionASWELLASthe
stepslistedinthe“DailyMaintenance”section.
Intervalsbetweenmonthlycleaningswilldepend
onthedurationthatthestoveis
burningonadailybasis.Astovewhichisoperatedcontinuouslywillneedmore
frequentmonthlycleaningsthanastovewhichisusedperiodicallyassupplemental
heat.
Agoodruleofthumbformonthlymaintenanceisthatitshouldbedoneeach
timean
entiretonofpelletsisburnedORoncepermonth,whichevercomesfirst.
Ifexcessashaccumulationisfoundintheexhaustchamberorventingsystemduring
monthlymaintenance,theintervalbetweencleaningsshouldbereducedtoeliminate
thepossibilityofpoorstoveperformanceduetoashaccumulation.
ExhaustChamberCleaning
Theexhaustchamberofthestovewasintentionallydesignedasanashaccumulation
area.Allowingashtoaccumulateherepreventsexcessashbuild‐upinthecombustionblower
andtheventingsystem.Similarly,theexhaustchamberiseasilyaccessibleviathetwoexhaust
chamberclean‐outportslocatedinthe
firebox.
Usinga5/16”socketwrench,removethetwoscrewswhichholdeachoftheclean‐out
coversinplace.Thecleanoutcoversarelocatedonthebackwallofthefirebox,near
thebottom.
RemovethecleanoutcoversfromthefireboxandBEFOREvacuumingthechamberout,
observe
thetypeandquantityofashbuild‐up.Theashdepositedintheexhaust
chambershouldbelight,fluffy,greyorwhiteincolor,andshouldbenohigherthanhalf
wayuptheclean‐outport.
o DoNOTallowtheashtoaccumulatehigherthanabouthalfway
upthecleanout
port;significantashaccumulationinthisareacan“choke”thecombustion
blowerandcausepoorstoveperformance.
