OWNER’S MANUAL
1. After lighting , let pilot f lame b urn for
about one min ute. Turn contr ol knob
on the contr ol valve to ON position.
Turn flame adjustment knob an y-
where betw een HI and LO . Slide the
selector s witch to the REMO TE posi-
tion.
Note:
The b urner s may light if
hand-held r emote ON b utton was on
when selector s witch was last tur ned
off. You can no w turn the b urner s on
and off with either optional hand-held
remote contr ol unit.
IMPORTANT:
Do not lea ve the se-
lector s witch in the REMO TE posi-
tion when the pilot is not lit. This will
drain the ba ttery.
IMPORTANT:
Be sur e to pr ess the
ON/OFF buttons on the hand-held
remote contr ol unit f or up to 3 sec-
onds to assur e pr oper oper ation.

Note:
All remote control accessories must
be purchased separately (See Accessories
on page 27). Follow instructions included
with the remote control.
Thermostat Control Operation
(Optional GHRCT Only) The thermostat
control setting on the remote control unit
can be set to any comfort level between HI
and LO. The burners will turn on and off
automatically to maintain the comfort level
you select. The ideal comfort setting will
vary by household depending upon the
amount of space to be heated, the output of
the central heating system, etc.
NOTICE: You must light the pilot
before using the hand-held re-
mote control unit. See
Lighting
Instructions,
page 18 .

GHRC Series Operation:
2a. Press the ON/OFF b utton to turn the
burner s on and of f. When tur ning
burner s off, the pilot will r emain lit.
GHRCT Series Operation:
2b. Select the MAN (man ual) or AUTO
button on the hand-held r emote con-
trol unit (see F igure 51).
In man ual mode , turn burner s on
or off by pressing the ON or OFF
buttons on the hand-held r emote
control unit.

Operation Mode
In auto mode , the r oom temper a-
ture is contr olled b y the ther mo-
stat in the hand-held r emote con-
trol unit. To incr ease the r oom tem-
per ature, pr ess the top ar row of the
TEMP b utton. To lower the r oom
temper ature, press the bottom ar -
row of the TEMP b utton. At higher
settings the hea ter will r un mor e.
IMPORTANT:
This r emote contr ol
has been speciall y eng ineer ed to tak e
an air temper ature sample e very 5.5
minutes in auto mode . It will not r e-
spond immediately to the tempera-
ture setting being tur ned up or do wn.
IMPORTANT:
The hand-held r emote
control unit m ust be near the hea ter
but not e xtremel y close to it. The
thermostat on the hand-held r emote
control unit will hea t up too quic kly
and tur n the hea ter off.
3. Use the ST ATUS b utton on the hand-
held r emote contr ol unit to see the
operation mode being used and the
temper ature setting selected . A red
light will come on beside the opera-
tion mode being used.
4. To turn the b urner s off when oper at-
ing in the man ual mode , pr ess the OFF
button. If oper ating in the auto mode ,
press the MAN b utton, then pr ess the
OFF button. The pilot will r emain lit.
IMPORTANT:
To turn the pilot of f,
man ually tur n the contr ol knob on the
heater to the OFF position.
