Appliqué, Patchwork and Quilt Stitching
The stitches that can be used for sewing appliqués, patchwork and quilts are described below.
Appliqué stitching

Cut out the appliqué, leaving a seam
allowance of between 3 and 5 mm
(1/8 and 3/16 inch).

Place a pattern made of thick paper on the
back of the appliqué, and then fold over the
seam allowance using an iron.
• Remove the thick paper after pressing the
seam allowance.
