BASTING
You can baste a garment before trying it on.
No. 4 Basting Stitch
General Purpose Foot
1. Lower the fabric feed dogs by moving the drop
feed lever to the left and decrease the foot
pressure. Thread tension regulator:Turn the
tension dial to the left (-).
2. Place the fabric under the presser foot and
lower it.
3. Hold the upper thread and bobbin thread
loosely and press the foot controller.
Machine will make one stitch only.
4. Pull the fabric required amount to the rear and
sew one stitch.
5. Repeat this as many times as you need to finish
the seam.
6. Raise the fabric feed dogs and increase the foot
pressure to original position for next regular
sewing. Thread tension regulator:Turn the
tension dial to the right (AUTO).
Note
To prevent the fabric plies from shifting, insert
dress pins crosswise to the basting position.
CAUTION: To prevent accidents.
Be sure the needle does not hit the dress pin,
while sewing.
ELASTIC STITCH SEWING
Elastic stitches are strong and flexible and will give
with the fabric without breaking. Good for easy to
ravel and knit fabrics as well as joining durable
fabrics such as denims.
No. 5 Straight Stretch Stitch
No. 6 Stem Stitch for Stretch fabrics
No.15 Ric-rac Stitch
General Purpose Foot
We recommend that you use a needle for knit and
synthetic fabrics to prevent stitch skippings and
thread breakages.
