ventilated),dosets andareasbelowgroundlevelwillserveas
rocketsforthe accumulationofthis gas.Beforeattemptingto
lightor .r_..ightthe water heater'spilot or toming on a nearby
electricallightswitch,be absolutelysurethere isnoaccumulat-
ed gasin the area.Searchforodor of gasbymiffingat ground
levelin the vidnityof the appliance.If odor isdetected,follow
stepsindicatedat "For YourSafety"on the coverpageof this
manuaithen leevethe premise_
Lighting andoperating instructions are located on front of the
water hearer, aboveor to one side of the gas control valve.
