Inspecting/Tightening the Seat
NOTE:Forthisprocedure,refertoFIGURE 3.2.
NOTE:Makesurethenutsandboltsholding
theseattotheseatmountingbracketandthe
brackettotheliftcolumnaretightatalltimes.
1. Removetheshrouddirectlybehindthe
seatbypullingitstraightup.
2. Useasocketwrenchtotightenthenuts
attachingthebrackettotheliftcolumn.
3. Withaendwrenchtightenthenuts
attachingtheseattothebracket.

NOTE:Thesixnylonbearingsinstalledintheoutercolumnhavebeenadjustedatthefactory
beforeshipping.Theykeeptheoutercolumncenteredaroundtheinnercolumnandprovidea
smoothglideupanddown.Theendsofthebearingscanwearwithuseandshouldbechecked
periodically.Approximatelyeverysixmonths,checktheadjustmentofthebearings(Detail“C”).
1. Removetheoutershroudbyremovingthetwofrontandfourrearmountingscrews,
andtheselftappingscrewsholdingthetwohalvesoftheshroudtogether(Detail“A”).
2. Raisetheliftuntilabout18”oftheinnercolumnareexposed.
3. Rubalightcoatofmachineoilupanddowntheinnercolumnuntilafilmofoilis
clingingtoallfoursurfaces.
4. Raiseandlowerthelift.
5. Checkthefoursurfacesoftheinnercolumntoseeifthereisanoticeabletrackinthe
oilfilmfromthenylonbearings(Detail“B”).
NOTE:Ifthebearingsaremakingsufficientcontactwiththeinnercolumn,youwillseefourtracks
intheoil.
6. Ifthereisnotatrackintheoilfilminoneormoreofthesidesoftheinnercolumn,that
sidesbearingsneedtobeadjustedINtowardthecolumnbyperformingthefollowing:
A. Usingaverylargebladedscrewdriveroraquarterheldfirmlywithapairofpliers,
turnthebearingINjustan1/8thofaturn(Detail“C”).
B. Runtheliftupanddown
againandseeifthebearingisnowcontactingtheinner
columnenoughtomakeatrackintheoil.IfnotrepeatSTEP“A ” .
NOTE:Whenboththeleftandrightsidesandthefrontandbacksidesoftheinnercolumnshow
aslighttrackintheoilfilm,yourbearingsareproperlyadjusted.
NOTE:ItisveryimportantthatyouDONOTrunthebearingsinsofarastomaketheliftbind
goingupanddown.
7. Wipetheexcessoilfilmandreplacetheshroud.
