BEFORE CALLING FOR SERVICE
Check the following list to be sure a service call is really necessary. A quick reference to this manual may
help you avoid an unneeded service call.
THE AIR CONDITIONER WILL NOT OPERATE.
Check if...
Wallplug disconnected.
House fuse blownor circuit breaker tripped.
MODE selector is OFF position.
Unitwasturned off and then ontoo quickly.
TEMP Controlset warmer than roomtemperature.
The current interrupter device is triped
Then...
Push plugfirmly intowall outlet.
Replacefuse withtime delay typeor resetcircuit breaker.
Turn MODE selector to thedesired COOL setting.
Turn unitoff andwait 3 minutes before restarting.
Turn TEMP Controlclockwise to a cooler setting (higher number).
Press the RESET button located on the power cord plug
If the RESET button will not stay engaged, discontinue use of the air
conditioner and contact a qualified service technician.
AIR FROM UNIT DOES NOT FEEL COLD ENOUGH.
Check if... Then...
MODE selector inLOW COOL position.
TEMP Control settoo warm (lower number).
Room temperature below 70°F (21°C).
Temperature sensingtube touching evaporator coil,
located behindfront grille.
Turn selectorto HIGH COOL position
Turn TEMP Controlclockwise to a cooler setting.
Cooling maynot occur until roomtemperature risesabove 70°F (21°0).
Straighten tube awayfrom evaporatorcoil.
THE AIR CONDITIONER COOLING, BUT ROOM IS TOO WARM - ICE FORMING ON COOLING COIL BEHIND FRONT GRILLE.
Check if... Then...
Outdoor temperature below 70°F (21°C). To defrost the coil, setselectorto FAN position.Then, turn TEMP control
counterclockwise to awarmer setting.
Airfilter maybe dirty. Clean filter. Referto Maintenance section of owner's manual. Todefrost,
set selectorto FAN position.
TEMP Controlset too cold fornight-time cooling. To defrostthecoil,setselectortoa FANposition.Then,set theMODE
controlat FANpositionor"HighCool"withtheTEMPcontroltoa warmerposition.
THEAIR CONDITIONERCOOLING,BUT ROOMISTOOWARM.
Check if...
Dirtyairfilter- air restricted. Clean airfilter. Referto Maintenance section of owneGsmanual.
TEMP Control settoe warm. Turn TEMP control clockwise to acooler setting (highernumber).
Frontof unitis blocked bydrapes, blinds, furniture, Clearblockage infront of unit.
etc. Airdistribution isrestricted.
Doors,windows, registers,etc. open. Cold airescapes. Close doors, windows, registers, etc.
Unitrecentlyturned onin hot room. Allowadditionaltimeto removestoredheatfromwalls,ceiling,floor,andfurniture.
THE AIR CONDITIONER TURNS ON AND OFF RAPIDLY.

[ Outsidetemperature is extremely hot. [ SetMODE on HIGHspeed to bringairpast coolingcoils faster. [
NOISE WHEN UNIT IS COOLING.
Check if... Then...
