Soot Formation and Need For Removal-
When coal is burned, the products of combustion
combine with moisture to form a soot residue which
accumulates on the ue lining. When ignited, this soot
makes an extremely hot re. The chimney and chimney
connector should be inspected at least once every two
months during the heating season to determine if a
soot buildup has occurred. If soot has accumulated,
it should be removed to reduce the risk of a chimney
re.
If you experiance a chimney re; Remove all burning
fuel from the grate by scraping it into the ash pan.
Move the ash pan safely outside the home and place
it on the ground, well away from any combustibles.

Do not operate the appliance until the chimney and
connector have been inspected and approved by a
chimney professional.
