injury fromhazardousshortwaveultraviolet radiation.Donot scratchtheouter bulborsubject
itto pressureas this couldcause theouterbulb tocrackor shatter.A partialvacuumin the
outerbulb maycause glassto flyifthe envelopeisstruck.
WARNING:Thearc-tubeofmetalhalidelampsaredesignedtooperateunderhighpressureandattemperatures
upto 1000ºCand canunexpectedlyrupturedue tointernal orexternal factorssuchasa ballastfailureor
misapplication.Ifthe arc-tuberupturesforany reason,theouterbulb maybreak andpiecesof extremely hot

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONSMUST BEFOLLOWED:
LAMPOPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS:
1.Turnofflampsat leastonceaweekforat least15minutesinsystemswhichareoperatingon acontinuousbasis
(24hours/day-7days/week).FAILURETOTURNOFF LAMPSFORTHEMINIMUM RECOMMENDED
TIMEMAYINCREASETHEPOSSIBILITY OFAN INNERARC-TUBERUPTURE.
2.RELAMPFIXTURESATOR BEFORETHEENDOF RATEDLIFE.Allowing lamps tooperateuntil
theyfail isnotadvised andmayincrease the possibilityof innerarctube rupture.
3.Beforelamp installation/replacement,shutpoweroffand allowlamp andfixtureto cool toavoidelectrical
shockand potentialburn hazards.
4.Useonly auxiliaryequipmentmeeting Philips and/orANSIstandards.Usewithinvoltagelimits recommended
byballast manufacturer.
A.Operate lamp onlywithin specified limitsof operation.
B.Fortotalsupply loadreferto ballastmanufacturerselectricaldata.
5.Periodicallyinspectthe outerenvelope.Replace anylamps thatshowscratches,cracks or damage.
6.Ifa lampbulbsupportisused,besure to insulatethe supportelectricallyto avoidpossibledecomposition of
thebulb glass.
7.Protect lampbase,socket andwiringagainst moisture,corrosive atmospheres and excessiveheat.
8.Timeshould beallowedfor lampstostabilize in colorwhen turnedon for the first time.Thismay require
severalhoursofoperation,withmore thanonestart.Lampcolor isalsosubject tochangeunder conditions
ofexcess vibrationor shockandcolor appearancemayvarybetweenindividual lamps.
9.Lampsmay require10to 20minutesto re-light ifthere isapowerinterruption.
10.Take careinhandling anddisposingof lamps.If anarctube isbroken,avoidskincontact withanyof the
contentsor fragments.
11.Donotuse this lamp:
A.In afixturethatcontains aPulseStartmetal halideballast.
B.Inafixture thatis specificallydesigned forusewith PulseStartmetalhalide lamps.Operation oftheselamps
onPulse StartMetal Halide systemsmay increasethechance ofanouter bulb ruptureand pieces of
extremelyhotglassmightbedischargedintothesurroundingenvironment.Ifsucharuptureweretohappen,
