Maintenance and annual startup
Service technician
(see the following pages for instructions)
General:
• Address reported problems
• Inspect interior; clean and vacuum if
necessary;
• Check for leaks (water, gas, flue,
condensate)
• Examine venting system
• Check system water pressure/system
piping/expansion tank
• Check control settings
• Check igniters
• Check wiring and connections
• Check flue gas passageways
• Flame inspection (stable, uniform)
• Inspect and clean the burners
• Check manifold gas pressures
• Perform start-up checkout and
performance verification per the Startup
Section in the Installation and Operation
Manual.
If combustion or performance
indicate need:
• Clean heat exchanger with a stiff bristle
brush
• Remove and clean burners using
water. Dry before re-assembling.
• Clean the blower wheel with a brush and
vacuum. Do not let dirt from cleaning get
pulled into the blower.
ANNUAL START-UP
Owner maintenance
(see the User’s Information Manual for instructions)
Daily
• Check appliance area
• Check pressure/temperature
gauge
Monthly
• Check vent piping
• Check air piping
• Check relief valve
• Replace combustion air filter
Note: More frequent replacement may
be necessary in dirty environments.
Do not use pleated filters.
Periodically
• Test low water cutoff (if used)
• Reset button (low water cutoff)
Every
6 months
• Check appliance piping (gas and
water) for leaks
• Operate relief valve
End
of season
months
• Shut appliance down (unless
boiler used for domestic hot
water)
