After you select a template (_ with the style and size
of buttonhole, slide the template into the guide plate
_). Pull the catch (_) toward you while sliding the
template _ until the selected buttonhole is at the
setting mark _. Insert the gear of base plate (_ into
the guide slot of template _) and fit the guide block
_) into the center of the guide slot.

Attach the buttonhole foot (_. Adjust the position of
gear _ so it is aligned with the starting point of the
template {_). The lever can be used to change gear
positions. Pull the bobbin thread up through the
guide slot of the buttonhole guide plate by turning
the handwheel counterclockwise while holding the
needle thread. Place the bobbin and needle threads
to the left side of the guide plate. Leave 3 to 4" (7 to
10 cm) of threads.
