Flush Pump Bef
ore Using
Pumps are tested with lightweight oil which is left in
to protect the pump parts. To prevent contamination
ofthefluid,flushthepumpwithacompatiblesolvent
before using it. See Flushing, page 20.
Pressure Re
lief Procedure
1. Shut off the electricity to the pump. Lock out
power at the electrical box.
2. Shut off the fluid inlet valve to the pump.
3. Let the fluid in the system drain from the fluid
outlet line.
Pre-Start Che
cklist
Verify each of the following items before starting the
pump.
DEBRIS: Ensu
re that the fluid inlet line and
fluid supply a
re free or dirt, debris, and any
contaminant
s.
HOSE MATERIA
L: Check that the hose material
is compatib
le with the fluid being pumped. Consult
your Graco d
istributor for available hose materials.
FASTENERS:
Check that all fasteners are properly
tightened
.
LEAKS: Che
ck the connections on the fluid inlet
and outlet
andmakesuretherearenoleaks.
Check the f
ront cover for signs of leaks from the
front cove
r gasket. Do not over-tighten the front
cover.
COVERS: V
erify that the front cover and motor fan
cover are
in place before starting the pump.
Start the Pump
1. Verify
that all items in the
Pre-St
art Checklist, page 18, are completed.
2. Fully o
pen all valves on the fluid inlet and outlet
lines.
This is a positive displacement pump and
will co
ntinue to build pressure, even against a
close
dvalve.
3. Disen
gage the motor lockout at the power supply.
4. Start
the motor.
5. Run th
e pump slowly, gradually increasing
pres
sure until the desired outlet pressure is
achi
eved and the pump and hoses are fully
prim
ed.
