Pilot
Check pilot ame pattern and burner ame
patterns often.
The pilot assembly is factory preset for proper
ame height. Alterations may have occurred
during shipping and handling. The pilot is
located on back right hand side of burner.
The thermocouple should be fully enveloped
in ame. Flame should not be lifting off ther-
mocouple element.
If your pilot assembly does not meet these
requirements:
• Access pilot adjustment screw through
slot in valve cover. Turn adjustment screw
clockwise to decrease or counterclockwise
to increase ame to proper size (see Figure
17, page 11). Do not remove adjustment
screw.

Burner ames will be steady; not lifting or
oating. Flames should go up through the
middle of log set. Flames should not "spill" to
edges of pan or sides of log set.
Figure 24 shows a typical ame pattern. If
burner ame pattern differs from that de-
scribed:
• turn appliance off (see To Turn Off Gas to
Appliance, page 14)
• see Troubleshooting, page 16

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
• Keep area around log set clean and clear
of debris.
• Occasionally, you may use a soft bristle
brush to clean logs.
• Periodically inspect air mixer and burner
tube for foreign matter blocking air inlet
and ame holes.
• Once every year a qualied agency or
certied chimney sweep should examine
and clean venting system of replace.
