INSPECTING BURNERS
Thermocouple
Figure 23 - Correct Pilot Flame Pattern
Pilot
Check pilot ame pattern and burner ame
patterns often.

The pilot assembly is factory preset for proper
ame height. Alterations may have occurred
during shipping and handling. The pilot is
located on back right hand side of burner.
The thermocouple should be fully enveloped
in ame. Flame should not be lifting off ther-
mocouple element.
If your pilot assembly does not meet these
requirements:
Access pilot adjustment screw through
slot in valve cover. Turn adjustment screw
clockwise to decrease or counterclockwise
to increase ame to proper size (see Figure
17, page 11). Do not remove adjustment
screw.

Burner ames will be steady; not lifting or
oating. Flames should go up through the
middle of log set. Flames should not "spill" to
edges of pan or sides of log set.
Figure 24 shows a typical ame pattern. If
burner ame pattern differs from that de-
scribed:
turn appliance off (see To Turn Off Gas to
Appliance, page 14)

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Keep area around log set clean and clear
of debris.
Occasionally, you may use a soft bristle
brush to clean logs.
Periodically inspect air mixer and burner
tube for foreign matter blocking air inlet
and ame holes.
Once every year a qualied agency or
certied chimney sweep should examine
and clean venting system of replace.
