❑ Inspectseatpositioningstrapforanysignsofwear.Ensurebucklelatches.Verify
hardwarethatattachesstraptoframeissecureandundamaged.Replaceifnecessary.
❑ Inspectbackcanehandgripsforwear/looseness/deterioration.
❑ Adjustfrontcasters/forksbearingsystemifwheelwobblesnoticeablyorbindstoa
stop.
❑ Ensurewheelbearingsarecleanandfreeofmoisture.
❑ Checkheadtubelocknutsfortightness.
❑ Ensurecastersarefreeofdebris.
❑ Makesuredetentballsofthequick‐releasepinarefullyreleasedbeforeoperatingthe
wheelchair.
❑ ThedetentballsMUSTbeprotrudingpastthetopoftheseatplateassemblyfora
positivelock.
❑ Keepdetentballsclean.
Inspect/Adjust Periodically
❑ Inspectframeandcrossbracesforlooseormissinghardware.
❑ Inspectforbentframeorcrossbraces.
❑ Checkthatwheellocksareeasytoengage.
❑ Inspectseatandbacksforripsandsagging.
❑ Checkthatthereisnoexcessivesidemovementorbindingintherearwheelswhen
liftedandspun.
❑ Inspecthandrimsforsignsofroughedgesorpeeling.
❑ Adjustfrontcasters/forksbearingsystemifwheelwobblesnoticeablyorbindstoa
stop.
❑ Ensurewheel
bearingsarecleanandfreeofmoisture.
❑ Inspectcastersforcracksandwear .
❑ Cleanupholsteryandarmrests.
❑ Checkthatalllabelsarepresentandlegible.Replaceifnecessary.
❑ Ensurecastersarefreeofdebris.
❑ Makesuredetentballsofthequick‐releasepinarefullyreleasedbeforeoperatingthe
wheelchair.
❑ ThedetentballsMUSTbeprotrudingpastthetopoftheseatplateassemblyfora
positivelock.
❑ Keepdetentballsclean.
