About Your Warranty
Some warranties say that you must drain the tank once a
month. •Yourtank will last longer if you do this. Your Sears
warranty is good whether you drain the tank often or not.
We include a drain valve because:
1. Many plumbing codes require a drain valve.
2. "Your water heater will continue to heat efficiently, if a
small amount of water is drained each month. THE
PRICE OF YOUR WATER HEATER DOES NOT
INCLUDE A FREE CHECKUP SERVICE CALL. ON
WATER HEATER INSTALLATIONS ARRANGED BY
SEARS, Sears warrants the installation.
ON INSTALLATIONS NOT MADE BY SEARS AUTHO-
RIZED CONTRACTORS:
1. Your Searswarranty applies to the product only.
2. Searsdoes not warrant the installation.
3. A charge will be made on service calls due to poor or
incomplete installation. These include:
a. Adjusting thermostat.
b. Lighting pilot.
c. Leaksin pipes or fittings.
This manual is in non-technical language. It may help
you avoid the cost of a needless service call. Many ser-
vice calls really aren't needed. Such aswhen:
t. The gas is turned "OFF".
• The pilot is out.
3. A gas or water leak is due to loose pipe or connections.
FULLONE YEARWARRANTYON WATERHEATER
Forone year from the date of purchase,when your SearsKenmorewater heater is installed and operated in accordance
with the information in this Manual Searswill:
1. Repairdefects in material or workmanship in this water heater,free of charge.
2. Furnishand install a new current model water heaterof equal capacity and quality, free of charge, if a leak occurs in
thetank.
LIMITEDWARRANTYON TANKSTHAT LEAK
After one year and through 6 yearsfrom the date of purchase,if a Jeakoccurs in the tankfSears will furnish a new cur-
rent model water heaterof equal capacity and quality. Youwill be chargedfor installation.
SomeStatesare imposing energyefficient standardson water heaters.Suchstandardsmay prohibit Searsfrom replacing
some water heaterswith others of equal capacity and quality. If your Stateprohibits Searsfrom replacing your water
heaterwith one of equal capacity and quality, should you need replacementunder the warranty; Searswill replace your
water heaterwith one meetingthe required standardsunder the following conditions:
1. During the Ful! One YearWarranty,the replacementwill be provided freeof charge.
2. During the Limited Warranty, you will be (2hargedthe difference between the current price of the replacementwater
heatermeeting the requited standardsand a water heaterin Sears'Line available in other Stateswhich is of equal
capacity and quality to your water heater.In addition, you will be chargedfor installation asstatedin the warranty.
LIMITEDWARRANTYON PARTSFAILURE
Fora period of 3 yearsfrom the dateof purchase;when your SearsKenmore water heater isinstalled and operated in
accordance with the information in this Manual; if a part fails due to a defect in materialsor workmanship; Searswil!
furnish a replacement partfree of charge.You will be chargedfor instaJlation.
If the water heater is subjected to commercial, institutional, industrial or other non-residential use, the above warranty
coveragefor tanksthat leak is effective for 2 yearsfrom the date of installation.;The abovepartswarranty is effective for
t yearfrom the dateof installation.

Sears Installation Policy
All installation labor arranged by Searsshall be performed
in a neat, workmanlike manner in accordance with gener-
ally accepted trade practices. Further, all instal]atlons shall
comply with all local laws, codes regulations and ordi-
nances. The customer shall also be protected, during
installation, by insurance relating to property damage,
Worker's Compensation and Public Liability•
Sears Installation Warranty
In addition to any warranty extended to you on the Sears
merchandise involved, which warranty becomes effective
the date the merchandise is installed should the workman-
ship of any Searsarranged installation prove faulty within
one year, Sears will, upon notice from you, cause such'
faults to be corrected at no additional cost to you.
If you want this water heater professionally installed, contact your SearsSalesperson. He will arrange for prompt, quality
installation by Searsauthorized contractors. !
