INSTALLATION CONSIDERATIONS
Installation of the CAM-PB consists of planning the mounting location and wire runs, physically
running cables (pre-wire), and final mounting and connections (trim-out).
PLANNING
Proper planning involves determining the correct location for the CAM-PB and determining proper
routing of the necessary wiring. This unit is suitable for indoor or outdoor use. It is not suitable for
use underwater. When determining the mounting location, keep in mind what subject(s) the camera
will be viewing and plan accordingly. Do not mount the camera pointing directly into bright lights
(the sun, bright security lighting, etc.) as this will provide poor video quality and could damage the
imaging element!
Because of its small size, the CAM-PB is ideal for use in applications requiring concealment or
unobtrusiveness. Plan mounting locations with this in mind. NILES recommends the use of
its CAM-DFMK Dome Camera Mounting Kit for attractive, discrete mounting and installation
of the CAM-PB.
PRE-WIRE
Wiring for the CAM-PB consists of RG-6 or RG-59 coaxial cable for video and two-conductor 18
AWG (18/2) stranded wire for power. Route these cables from the pre-determined mounting location
of the camera to the location designated for video distribution and connectivity (the “head-end”).
Make sure to keep the wire runs separated from high-voltage wires and/or electronic dimmers.
Coaxial cable should not have sharp bends and the termination points should be relatively dry.
MOUNTING/TRIM-OUT
The CAM-PB includes a multi-purpose mounting bracket. This bracket enables the unit to be
securely attached to almost any mounting surface.
NOTE: MOUNTING HARDWARE IS INCLUDED, BUT ADDITIONAL HARDWARE MAY BE REQUIRED
DEPENDING ON THE DESIRED MOUNTING SURFACE.
