A. Before Lighting Appliance
Before lighting this appliance, determine if it has a stand-
ing pilot or Intelli re ignition system by opening the control
access panel to view wiring system and gas valve. If this
appliance has a red or black ignitor button (See Figure 10.1)
this appliance has a standing pilot ignition system. If there is
no red or black ignitor button, this appliance has an Intelli re
ignition system.
If installing Intelli re Ignition battery backup:
Do not install batteries if the backup mode may
not be used for extended time.
Batteries may leak.
Install batteries only when needed for power
outage.

Glass door MUST be in place when appliance
is operating.
Do NOT operate appliance with glass door
removed.
Open viewing glass for servicing only.
Glass door MUST be in place and sealed
before operating appliance.
Only use glass doors certi ed for use with
the appliance.
Glass replacement should be done by
quali ed technician.
WARNING
Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service or
maintenance can cause injury or property damage. Refer
to the owner’s information manual provided with this
appliance. For assistance or additional information consult
a quali ed installer, service agency or the gas supplier.
WARNING
Do NOT use this appliance if any part has been under
water. Immediately call a quali ed service technician
to inspect the appliance and to replace any part of the
control system and any gas control which has been
under water.
WARNING
Before operating this appliance, have a quali ed
technician:
Remove all shipping materials from inside and/or
underneath the rebox.
Review proper placement of logs, rockwool, lava rock and
vermiculite.
Check the wiring.
Check the air shutter adjustment.
Ensure that there are no gas leaks.
Ensure that the glass is sealed and in the proper
position.
Ensure that the ow of combustion and ventilation air is
not obstructed (front grilles and vent caps).

Operating Instructions
HOT SURFACES!
Glass and other surfaces are hot during
operation and cool down.
WARNING
• CAREFULLY SUPERVISE children in same room as
appliance.
• Alert children and adults to hazards of high
temperatures.
High temperatures may ignite clothing or other
ammable materials.
Keep clothing, furniture, draperies and other combustibles
away.
Hot glass will cause burns.
Do not touch glass until it is cooled
NEVER allow children to touch glass
Keep children away
This appliance has been supplied with an integral
barrier to prevent direct contact with the xed glass
panel. Do NOT operate the appliance with the barrier
removed.
Contact your dealer or Hearth & Home Technologies if the
barrier is not present or help is needed to properly install one.
