7.3 Connectingtheuegasoutlet-/airsupplysystem
Upsilon-boilers can be used both in an “open” and in “closed" system.
Open: The required combustion air is taken from the immediate environment (boi-
ler room). For this purpose, please comply with the applicable boiler room
ventilation regulations BS 6644.

Closed: The required combustion air is sucked in from the outside through a channel.
This improves installation possibilities within a building. In general, outside
air is cleaner than air from the boiler room.
The following ue gas outlet systems can be used for the Upsilon-boiler:
- Individual ue gas outlet
- Collective ue gas outlet under-pressure
- Collective ue gas outlet over-pressure
7.4 Individualuegasoutlet
Opting for an individual ue gas outlet is determined by:
- Favourable position of boilers with regard to outlet area (wall or roof)
- Limited space above the boilers
- Limited number of boilers
You may opt for:
- Roof terminal (pitched or at roof)
- Wall terminal

A.O.Smith supplies the following roof and wall ducts:
0304264 Roof terminal Ø100 - 150
0302505 Wall terminal Ø100 - 150
Accessory options:
0306017 Lead roof tile ø150 for angled roof
0302509 Roof connection plate ø150 for at roof
We suggest you design a simple ue gas system and air supply system. For further
information about the available components of the ue gas and air supply system we
recommend you consult the A.O.Smith ue literature.
The A.O.Smith ue gas system is meant, and designed, solely for the use on A.O.Smith
central heating boilers adjusted to Nat gas or LPG. The maximum ue gas temperatures
are below 70°C (full load 80/60°C)
The proper operation may be adversely inuenced by changes of or adjustments to the
correct set up.
