Always disconnect the unit from the electrical outlet prior to cleaning or
servicing the unit!
Cleaning the Unit:
Clean the outside of the AM-90 and the area around the air purifier with a soft damp cloth once every
2 weeks. If you are not using the Ionizer, then this interval can be increased to once a month.
Removing and Installing the Filter
A. Note that the unit comes with the filter sealed in a
plastic bag. This bag must be removed (and then
properly disposed of) before operating the unit.
B. To remove the filter, lay the unit on its back as shown.
The filter is removed from the base of the unit.
C. The filter has 2 handles, one of which is also a latch.
Push on the latch and pull out the filter using both handles.
D. To install the filter, slide it into the base of the unit until the latch catches in the base fitting.
Washable Filter Information:
A. The washable filter has the advantage that the accumulated dirt can be washed out from the
filter and then the filter can be reused.
B. When the washable filter is new it is a light cream color. When the filter material has turned
dark gray or the air flow out of the unit has substantially dropped, it is time to wash the filter.
The filter is good for at least 8 washes.
To Wash the Filter
A. Remove the filter from the unit as described above.
B. Rinse the dirt out of the filter pleats from both directions using clean flowing water preferably
from a spray nozzle.
C. Note that the filter material will regain much of its filtering performance, but its color will
remain gray.
D. Allow the filter to completely dry before using.
E. Install the filter in the unit as described above.
The Washable Filter Sticker:
A. When the filter is being removed, you will see that there are 2 stickers which are attached to
the base of the unit.
B. Record the date when you start using the unit in the space for the Installation Date.
C. Each time you wash the filter, record the date in the space corresponding to Wash #1 until Wash #8.
D. After the filter has been washed and used for the eighth time, the filter should be replaced
with a new filter. See page 8 for instructions how to purchase replacement filters.
E. The new filter comes with 2 stickers which you should stick on top of the old stickers.
F. Record the date when you start using the new filter in the space for the Installation Date.
G. Follow steps C and D above.
