Glossary
Appendix
It plays content distributed from the
VSPA-D7 software, according to the
specified playlist and schedule.
Playlist
Listed information that defines the
order of materials to be played on
each layer of a player.
When a piece of material is dropped
on a playlist, information on the start
time, duration, position and size on
the screen is added, and the title of
the item appears in the cell of the
playlist as an “event.”
When a created playlist is saved, you
can create a schedule for the playlist
simultaneously by specifying the
time, period, and days of the week
when it should be played on the
players.
You can also manually create a
schedule for a playlist, in
combination with extra audio lists
and control commands.
Playout schedule
See “Schedule.”
Preview
To play back materials or playlists
before distribution or showing them
to the public, to check the contents.
Previewing is done on a player that
has been specified as the preview
device.
Schedule
Listed information for each day in
which sets of a time period and
playlist or extra audio list to be
played in that period are specified,
like a time table.
The control commands for adjusting
the output audio level of a player or
for devices connected to the player
via an RS-232C connection, such as
display devices, can be specified in a
schedule, too.
Each schedule has added information
on the period and days of the week
when the schedule is used for
playout, when saved.
When there are some days on which
no playout will be performed on the
players, you can create a “no playout
day” schedule for them, too.
Screen saver
A playlist that will be played on a
player when nothing is scheduled to
be played.
The player will play that playlist if it
is powered on and no particular
playlist is scheduled for playout at
that time.
The screen saver playlist should
consist of graphics material on the
“Background” layer only. It is
recommended that you choose
several graphics to be displayed in
sequence, to prevent image burning
into the liquid crystal display.
The screen saver playlist can be
selected and distributed to the players
in the “Send Content” window set.
Standard layout
Layout settings that are applied first
when a piece of material is added to a
playlist. These layout settings are
specified in the “Layout” and
“Standard Layout Settings” windows
that appear when the
button is clicked.
You can apply different layout
settings to a playlist event by
selecting one of the templates or
modifying the size or positioning
data.
Streaming material
A live video image sent from a Sony
IP camera. The VSPA-D7 manages
streaming material in the same
manner as for video material,
provided the network address of the
IP camera has been registered.
Substitute graphics
A piece of graphics material to be
displayed instead of missing or
erroneous material upon playout on a
player.
The substitute graphics can be
selected and distributed to the players
in the “Send Content” window set.
Template
A set of layout settings that can be
saved in the VSPA-D7 software.
The VSPA-D7 software can store up
to 50 templates for each combination
of screen resolution and orientation.
See also “Standard layout.”
