Thermostat is set on 73 but the temp is 80. It keeps clicking off and on every 30 seconds or so. Also the temp setting on right side blinks off and on. How to fix this ?

0 All olf a sudden the ambient temp is approximately 7 degrees off.......I did a reset which put it back to 72 degrees but it climbed once again. I have a thermometer setting beside the thermostat to monitor it...since i noticed it running at times when it shouldn't be. I don't know of anything other than to replace the "stat". It has been bullet proof up to this point............the cost to replace is relatively low but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem "pop up"
