Whenusingthevacuumcleaner,basicsafetyprecautions
shouldalwaysbeobserved,includingthefollowing:
1. Only use the vacuum cleaner indoors on dry

urfaces.
2. Turn off thevacuum cleaner controls before

isconnecting or connecting from the mains supply.
3. Alwaysunplugthevacuumcleanerbefore
connectingordisconnectingthevacuumhoseand
accessories.
4. Childrenshouldbesupervisedtoensurethatthey
donotplaywiththeappliance.
5. Thisappliance is not intendedfor use by persons
(including children)with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been givensupervision or
instruction concerninguse of the applianceby a
person responsiblefor their safety.
6. Useonly as described inthis manual. Use only Vax
recommended attachments.
7. Do not use thevacuum cleaner if it has been
dropped, damaged, left outdoors or dropped into
water. Donot use the vacuumcleaner with a
damaged cord orplug. If thesupply cord is
damaged return thevacuum cleaner toa Vax
Authorised ServiceAgent or contact theVax Careline
on 0844 4128455 for assistance.
8. Donot pull or carryby cord. Do notuse the cord asa
handle, close adoor on thecord or pull cordaround
sharp edges orcorners. Do notrun the vacuum
cleaner over thecord. Keep thecord away from
heated surfaces.
9. Donot handle the plugor vacuum cleaner with wet
hands. Do notuse outdoors oron wet surfaces.
10. Donot put any objectsinto openings. Do notuse
with any openingsblocked and donot restrict air-
flow. Keep allopenings free of dust,lint, hair or
anything that mightreduce airflow.
11. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of
the body away from openings andmoving parts.
12. Donot pick up hotcoals, cigarette butts, matches
or any hot, smoking or burning objects.
13. Donot pick up flammableor combustible
materials (lighterfluid, petrol, kerosene etc.)or use
in the presence of explosive liquids or vapours.
14. Donot vacuum up harmful or toxic material
(
chlorine, bleach,ammonia, drain cleaner etc.).
15. Donot vacuum up hardor sharp objects suchas

lass, nails, screws, coins, etc.
16. Donot use without ALLof the filters inplace.

7. Take extracare when vacuuming onstairs.
18. Keepvacuuming area well lit.
19. Storethe vacuum cleaner ina cool, dry area.
20. Turn off theon/off switch before unpluggingthe
vacuum cleaner
21. Useonly CE-approved 13 ampextension cords.
Non-approved cords mayoverheat. Care should
be taken toarrange the cordso that the cord
cannot be tripped over.
WARNING: Always switch off and unplugthe
vacuum cleaner from the electrical outletbefore
assembling, openingor emptying the dirtcontainer, or before
connecting/disconnecting theattachments.
CAUTION: The vacuum cleaner is avery powerful
unit. Before plugging the cord into the electrical
outlet, make sure the switch isin the ‘off’ position.
IMPORTANT:If the inlet, hose or telescopictube
is blocked, switch off the vacuum cleaner and
remove the blockage(s) before re-starting thevacuum
cleaner. SeeMaintenance: Clearing blockages.
IMPORTANT: Washing filtersimproves vacuum
performance. Vax recommends thatthey should
be checked and cleaned periodically (depending on the level
of use). Makesure all filtersare completely dry before
inserting back into the vacuum cleaner.
IMPORTANT: The motor isequipped with a thermal
cut-out. If for any reason the unit should overheat,
the thermostat will automatically turn theunit off. Shouldthis
occur, unplugthe vacuum cleaner fromthe electrical outlet
and turn offthe switch. Removedirt container and empty.
Clean filters. Allow the unit tocool for approximatelyone (1)
hour. Tore-start, plug intoan electrical outlet andswitch back
on.

only and NOT for commercial or industrial use.
