Overcasting

Use
a
long,
wide
zigzag
stitch
and
sew
edge
with
the
needle
taking
one
stitch
into
the
fabric
and
the
other
over
its
edge.
You
may
over-

edges
after
fabric
is
cut
and
before
the
pieces
are
loined.
Two
similar
pieces
of
fabric
which
do
not
ravel
easily
may
be
butted
together
and
loined
with
zigzag
stitches.
Worn
bed
sheets
may
be
mended
this
way.
Cut
out
worn
center
strip.
Place
the
selvaged
edges
of
the
remaining
pieces
of
sheet
under
the
sewing
foot
so
that
the
abutted
edges
are
centered
under
the
needle.
Join
them
with
closes
wide
zigzag
stitches.
Hem
raw
edges
of
sheet.
