Three main components

Series
PureAir
Air Purification System consists of a
pleated filter, four (PCO-12C) or six (PCO-20C)
17-watt UVA lamps and a metal insert that
is coated with a catalyst that’s activated by
ultraviolet (UVA) light.
Three powerful air purifiers
The PureAir System reduces concentrations
of pollutants through a process called
photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) that combines
nature’s three most powerful air purifiers:
Ultraviolet light (UVA)†
Titanium dioxide catalyst, a nontoxic
substance found in everyday
household products
Hydroxyl radicals, formed through the
chemical reaction of the UVA light, catalyst
and airstream, destroy organic compounds
Three fast, effective steps
The PCO process involves three steps:
1) The pleated, 4" MERV 9 filter captures
particles and bioaerosols as small as
1 micron, removing them from
the airstream.
2) As the odor- and chemical vapor-filled
airstream flows over the ultraviolet light, the
airstream is exposed to the catalytic surface
(titanium dioxide-coated metal filter).
3) The light energy and water vapor in the air
activate the titanium dioxide catalyst, which
generates hydroxyl radicals. These particles
break down the odors and chemical
vapors into carbon dioxide and water. The
conversion process occurs as the carbon
components of the odors and chemical
vapors react with the hydroxyl radicals,
creating carbon dioxide and water vapor.
