HINTS FOR PERFECT
BUTTONHOLES
Mark the position of each
buttonhole on the garment with
chalk or a line of basting.
Loosely woven fabrics and
fabrics that stretch easily such as
jersey should have an interfacing
of a firm fabric, Use cambric or
taffeta between woolens and
rayons-organdy or lawn between
light weight and sheer fabrics.
Use buttonhole scissors or
buttonhole cutter to cut button-
hole open.
Always make a practice button-
hole on a piece of the fabric to
be used in the garment,
A wider stitch width may be
desirable on heavy weight
fabrics.
