8. When the pilot is lit, turn control know counter-
clockwise to heating level. The main burner
should light.
9. To select the desired heat level, turn the tem-
perature setting knob counterclockwise to
between 1 & 7.
THERMOSTAT CONTROL OPERATION
FOR IR20NGT / IR30NGT: The thermostatic control
used simply turns on and off the burner.
FOR BF20NGT / BF30NGT: The thermostatic control
used modulates the flame size as the temperature gets
closer to set point, then it turns off the burner upon
reaching temperature.
The burner will cycle back on when room temperature
drops below the set temperature. The control knob can
be set to any heat level between 1 and 7. Selecting the
HI setting will cause the burner to remain on.
Note: The thermostat sensing bulb measures the
temperature of air near the heater cabinet. This may
not always agree with room temperature (depending on
housing construction, insulation location, room size,
open air temperature, etc.). Frequent use of your heater
will let you determine your own comfort levels.
TO TURN OFF GAS TO APPLIANCE
SHUTTING OFF HEATER
1. Turn control knob clockwise to the OFF posi-
tion.
2. Turn off all electrical power to the appliance if
servicing is to be preformed.
3. Turn off equipment shutoff valve.
SHUTTING OFF BURNER ONLY (PILOT STAYS LIT)
1. Turn control knob clockwise to the PILOT/IGN
position.
INSPECTING BURNER
Check pilot flame pattern and burner flame pattern
often.
PILOT FLAME PATTERN
Figure 21 show a correct pilot flame pattern. Figure 22
shows an incorrect pilot flame pattern. The incorrect
pilot flame pattern is not touching thermocouple. This
will cause the thermocouple to cool. When the thermo-
couple cools, the heater will shut down. If pilot flame
pattern is incorrect, as shown in Figure 22:
Turn heater off (see To Turn OFF Gas to
Appliance, page 11 for non-thermostat models
or page 12 for thermostat models).
See Troubleshooting, pages 14 and 15.

Appliance, page 11 for non-thermostat models
or page 12 for thermostat models).
