the unit is 48 in. (1219 mm). Clearance of at least 36 in.(914 mm)
is required on sides except the power entry side (42 in. [1067 mm]
clearance) and the duct side (12 in.[305 mm] minimum clearance).
Maintenance and Care for the Equipment Owner
Before proceeding with those things you might want to maintain
yourself, please carefully consider the following:
FIRE, EXPLOSION, ELECTRICAL SHOCK AND
CUT HAZARD
Failure to follow thiswarning could result in personalinjury,
death or property damage.
1. TURN OFF ELECTRICAL POWER TO YOUR UNIT
BEFORE SERVICING OR PERFORMING
MAINTENANCE.
2. When removing accesspanels orperforming maintenance
functions inside your unit, be aware of sharp sheet metal
parts and screws. Although special care is taken to reduce
sharp edges to a minimum, be extremely careful when
handling parts or reaching into the unit. Wear safety
glasses, glove, and appropriate protective clothing.

WARNING
Air Filters
The airfilter(s) shouldbechecked every 3or 4 weeksand changed
or cleaned whenever it becomes dirty . Dirty filters produce exces-
sivestressontheblowermotorand can causethemotor tooverheat
and shut down.
This unit must have air filters in place before it can be operated.
Thesefilterscan belocated in one ofat leasttwo places.In many ap-
plications, the installer will provide return air filter grilles mounted
on thewall or ceiling of the conditionedstructure.Intheinstanceof
filtergrilles, thefilterscan simply beremoved from thegrilleandre-
placed.
The other typical application i san accessory filter rack installed in-
side the unit itself. The following information is given to assist in
changing filters used in these internal filter racks.
Table 1 indicates the correct indoor filter size for your unit. Refer
toFig.2 to accessfiltersinstalled in theaccessory filterrack.Ifusing
an Accessory Filter Rack, refer to the Installation Instructions pro-
vided with it for correct filter sizes and quantities.

To replace or inspect filters in accessory filter rack (See Fig. 2):
1. Remove the f ilter access panel using a 5/16--in. nut driver.
2. Removethefilter(s)bypullingitoutoftheunit.Ifthefilter(s)
is dirty , clean or replace with a new one.
When installing thenewfilter(s), notethedirection oftheairflowar-
rows on the filter frame.
If you have difficulty locating your air filter(s) or have questions
concerning proper f ilter maintenance, contact your dealer for in-
structions.When replacing filters,alwaysusethesamesizeandtype
of filter t hat was s upplied originally by the installer.
UNIT OPERATION HAZARD
Failure to follow t his caution may result in property damage.
Never operate your unit without filters in place. An
accumulation ofdust and linton internalpartsofyourunitcan
cause loss of efficiency and blower motor and/or compressor
damage.

Fans and Fan
Motors
Periodically check the condition of fan wheels and housings and
fan--motor shaft bearings. Contact your dealer for the required
annual maintenance.
Indoor and Outdoor
Coils
Cleaning of thecoils should only be done by qualified serviceper-
sonnel. Contact your dealer for the required annual maintenance.
Condensate
Drain
The drain pan and condensate drain line should be checked and
cleanedatthesametimethecoolingcoilsarecheckedbyyourdeal-
er.
Compressor
Allcompressorsarefactoryshippedwithanormalchargeofthecor-
rect type of refrigeration grade oil. A compressor should rarely re-
quire additional oil.
Condenser
Fan
PERSONAL INJURY AND UNIT DAMAGE HAZARD
Failure to follow thiswarning could result in personalinjury,
death or property damage.
Do not poke sticks, screwdrivers, or any other object into
revolving fan blades.

The fan must be kept freeof all obstructions to ensure propercool-
ing. Contact your dealer for any required service.

Electricalcontrolsaredifficulttocheckwithoutproperinstrumenta-
tion. If there are any discrepancies in the operating cycle, contact
your local dealer and request service.
