Igniture lights but we dont get any flames. if i tap on valve and gas pipe then it will lite and run for a while then the problem comes back

0 I think you probably know the answer to this one. Sounds like your gas valve sticking shut. Either that or the control wire connector going to the valve is corroded/bad and is introducing just enough resistance in the circuit that it does not provide enough juice to open it and the banging on it helps just enough to open it. Only mention that because connections can get oxidized over time and can cause problems that you wouldn't ever think be related.

0 I should have said a little more. You may have to replace the valve. If it's a connector then changing the connector would be cheap and relatively easy. I'm sure you know someone that has a set of wire strippers that could do that for you. You can pick up connectors cheap at any Lowe's or Home Depot store.
