we had a service interuption with are electricity and know the igitor needs to be reset but i can't remember how to do this

0 Ok...the fact is that if the blower is operating without any flame then it is most likely not the ignitor. If your furnace is operating correctly then your flame sensor would prevent the blower from turning on. Unfortunately I may have bad news for you. When you have a power outage and the power goes back on there can be two very bad scenarious. One is that the power went off due to something like lightening striking somewhere on the grid causing the power companies safety breaker to trip (that brief spike before the breaker actually trips can toast electronics in your home) or...when the power comes back on there usually is a brief surge. Both cases happen more regularly than you might think which is why many people protect their electronics with surge/ups's. I guess I'm getting around to this...your control board may be toast. I don't know of any reset that you are talking about for flame ignitors. However, the good news is this...that I'm an amateur and could very well be wrong. The bad news is this...I'm usually right.
